Help with Peri-Workout Nutrition

So I have recently decided to focus on my peri workout nutrition to get the most out of my training. I am currently trying to gain mass and eat a lot of calories a day. I had been eating a pb&J 45 min before hitting the gym, then buying lunch right when I’m done. This has been the extent of my peri nutrition, which is pretty pathetic. Anyways I take a mass gainer shake in the morning after breakfast, and in the evening after dinner. It has a lot of calories but also 30g of protein. Anyways I am wondering if I should just have another of these shakes after I workout, or would it be better to have whey protein before and after workout? Thanks

I drink gatorade and whey protein while lifting. Do what you will with that.

I went through a period of about a month where I had a scoop of whey and a York Peppermint Patty before the gym.

Point is, I like Yorks and it gave me energy to throw some weight around so don’t get bogged down in the details of when you eat. Just make sure you are eating to reach your goals.
