Honestly speaking, jumping straight from 1 to 2 plates was not a good idea from you

Even doing 185 in between wouldā€™ve helped, also the 235 was kinda unnecessary

So doing 135x10, 185x5, 225x5 and then going to work sets would probably have served you better

Iā€™ll have to try out making smaller jumps, I tend get impatient when it comes to getting to my working weights and it backfired on me

Thatā€™s normal among younger guys as yourself

Just remember thatno matter how cool you feel jumping a whole plate at a time, blowing a disc and not being able to lift for months is not cool

Axle felt pretty good today and I came a few inches of having a solid PR in the books. I need to work on my leg drive and overall split jerk technique because once I get to 165+lbs I stop floating under the bar perfectly and start to have to press the weight the rest of the way out.
Also on the max reps in 60sec I couldā€™ve done more but the dude who timed me didnā€™t tell me to go until 50sec ā€œSo I could have time to set upā€ and I also throat chopped myself with the damn axle.

Hey guys, so heres some not so great newsā€¦

My parents for whatever reason have decided to stop taking me to the gym until summer break which is 9 weeks away. So I guess I wonā€™t be seeing you guys for a while unless I can convince them otherwise.

If Iā€™m being completely honest I have no clue what Iā€™m going to do for the time being, In 9 weeks Houstonā€™s strongest man will have come and gone. My parents a while ago decided to sell my home gym so I canā€™t really work out for the next 9 weeks, so Iā€™ll come back probably a weaker person than I am now. Life kinda feels like itā€™s crashing down on me as I type this, but Iā€™m probably being a little dramatic.

Donā€™t fret. Sure, you probably arenā€™t going to win a contest having not practiced the events much - but the first show is more about the experience than anything imho.

For thousands of years, people got JACKED with body weight work. Prisoners still do it.
