Bruising from Knee Wraps?

Is it pretty normal to have bruising behind my knees after using wraps? Or am I wrapping them wrong? I got about 40 pounds out of them. I didn’t expect them to be comfortable but I’ve never heard of bruising from them.

I have gotten bruising from them. I don’t know how your wrapping them, your style of squat, or what your numbers are but I get 40lbs out of a very light wrap. Upwards of 80 with a very tight wrap and even more if I have 1 or 2 people helping me. So if you can post a video of your squat and even how you wrap would help tremendously.

Yes

Especially grippers. My knees are raw if I use those.

I don’t have a video but I squat high bar. When I wrap them I wrap 4 to 5 wraps top to bottom then make an x over the patella and then just finish the wrap. I wrap it as tight as I can on my own. Is there a better way to do it?

I just start below my knee, get 4 wraps on the way up then 2 down and 1 more over the middle of those 2. I don’t think it matters too much how you do it, as long as you get a good bit of material built up behind the knee.
