Antiwar Protest Quiz

Vroom-
JeffR and Thunderbolt are ideologues who are unwilling to see the situation any other way.
I am not criticizing either of you, I have just come to the realization that to you and others that see it your way there was no other alternative then to invade Iraq. No other alternative then to take this action. You believe in you rationalizations for this as strongly as I believe the sun will come up tomorrow morning and nothing any one says will change that.

Elk,

Elk,

“…Thunderbolt are ideologues…”

Nonsense.

Far from being a narrow-minded ideologue, I enjoy a lively, intelligent debate between opposing viewpoints.

I never suggested that invasion of Iraq was the only option - but no one has suggested a viable alternative. I’d be happy to debate it.

And perhaps you’re right - perhaps you can’t change my mind. That’s ok. The exchange - so long as it remains intelligent and based in reason - is still worthwhile.

But to suggest that I refuse to listen to the other side in argument, simply not true. In fact, I invite it.

Calling someone an ideologue to avoid answering their tough questions is the easy way out of a conversation.

This seems like a good thread for this…

During the Clinton Administration I had an extremely good and well paying job. I took numerous vacations and had several vacation homes. Since President Bush took office, I have watched my entire life change for the worse. I lost my job. I lost my two sons in that terrible Iraqi War. I lost my homes. I lost my health insurance. As a matter of fact, I lost virtually everything and became homeless. Adding insult to injury, when the authorities found me living like an animal, instead of helping me, they arrested me.

I will do anything to insure President Bush’s defeat in the next election. I will do anything that Senator Kerry wants, to insure that a Democrat is back in the White House come next year. Bush has to go. I just thought you and your readers would like to know how one senior citizen views the Bush Administration.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
Sincerely,
Sadaam Hussein

The lesson from WWII is simple - appeasement doesn’t work. When the international community fails its duty to make rascals comply, whether it’s the Versailles treaty or Resolution 687 (the conditional ceasefire), it emboldens the aspirations of the Hitlers of the world.

Specifically, which duties are being referred to here?

Specifically, the duty of the Member States of the UNSC to ensure Iraq’s compliance with Resolution 687 stemming from the Gulf War.
