ZMA Question

I just got a bottle of ZMA to try for sleep enhancement or penis enlargement or whatever you people think it’s for.

It says to take 30-60min before bed on an empty stomach or avoid taking with foods that have calcium. My question comes because I usually eat a shake containing whey protein and cottage cheese before bed. How should I adjust my eating or ZMA schedule?

RIT, try taking your ZMA 2 hours after your next-to-the-last meal and one hour before you go to bed. Have your protein shake one hour after the ZMA and right as you’re going to bed.

Hopefully others will stop by with their solutions.

Umm, why not take the pill 30 minutes before you drink the shake… and good luck with the enlargement thing.

Jared: If you’re drinking a shake right before bed, either: (a) you don’t need ZMA for sleep quality (because you’re miraculously sleeping despite the coagulating ball of dairy chine in your gut); or (b) you would sleep better just by bagging the shake. Better yet, why not just stay awake 24/7 spooning cottage cheeze until you start hallucinating that it’s making a difference?

I usually take it roughly an hour before bed on an empty stomach and about 15 minutes before I’ll either take some liquid protein without milk or about 150-250 calories of non-to-very low calcium containing food. I do sleep a lot better and feel more rested while taking ZMA, so I think it works. Not to mention my shlong grew about 3". Ok I lied, maybe 2"

Jared, the best way is to take the ZMA on an empty stomach 30 mins before bed, then have your cottage cheese right before bed. With that said, i dont think a shake right before bed is much beneficial because whey protein is fast absorbing. That is why cottage cheese is so popular before bed, the casein protein takes a long time to digest so it is better to prevent protein breakdown during the night.

The problem is that I have my post-post workout meal at around 9:15 PM, and I go to bed at 11:30.

Exerpts from J.B.'s bedtime story-- any of you can feel free to read the whole thing as I think some of you are confused as to why I drink whey and cottage cheese before bed.

[quote]Whey protein intake (30g) produces large transient hyperaminoacidemia. After an hour, blood amino acids are elevated by about 300%.

  • About halfway through the night your body runs out of muscle-building fuel and leaves you in a catabolic state. To prevent this, it’s a good idea to get some protein before bed.
  • The so-called “nighttime anti-catabolic protein formulas” hitting the market are overpriced, overhyped, and aren’t even ideal for battling catabolism.
  • A better and more-affordable choice is plain old cottage cheese and/or a blend of proteins like those found in Low-Carb Grow! (Milk itself isn’t a good choice however.)

RIT, instead of a shake, take two large glasses of water before going to bed with your ZMA. When you wake up to hit the restroom in the middle of the night, chug down the shake you have pre-made, sitting, waiting for you in the fridge.

None of us can change the laws of physics for you… and yeah, I do the cottage cheese thing too. Just do the best you can and stop worrying about it already. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is some damn good advice…I might even try this out myself!

Stay strong
