Your Macro Breakdowns When Cutting

I’ve been cutting for about 3 weeks now, but I’m still gaining strength which makes me believe I can actually cut back some on carbs. I was at 2800 calories per day, 106g fat, 163g carbs, and 295g protein. Carbs were taken in first thing in the morning, and then before a workout, with a small amount immediately following the workout.

I was toying around and came up with a breakdown that looks like this: 2,600 calories, 98g fat, 99g carbs, 319g protein. My question is, do you think that’s too few carbs? My 4 workout days during the week have around 100-130 carbs on them, and non workout I’m around between 40 and 80. I’m just nervous because I’ve never gone this low on carbs for whole weeks before…

I know many people will always push for lowering carbs as far as you can, but I guess I’m of the school that will try to maintain as many carbs as you can in order to preserve your LBM while cutting. I don’t think I even came down to 100g a day until I was 2 weeks out from my show, and knew I was going to have to give up a few lbs of muscle in order to make weight.

If your strength is going up, why would you want to cut anything? Even if your current weight is constant, strength gains may indicate new muscle, hence some recomposition,… so why put a stop to it by cutting back on anything? Give it a couple fo weeks at least, wait until something stops working before you mess with it.

x2. I try to keep as many carbs in as possible for as long as I can also.
