You Never Know When It Can Happen...

Yesterday after my workout I checked my email and got some shocking news. One of my frat brothers dead suddenly at work. He was walking on the rig and a chain broke loose above him and fell on his head killing him instantly. I wasn’t really close to him, he was 3 years younger than me, but I played ball with him and his older brother. Just made me sit down and think last night how suddenly your life can be gone. Make sure that the ones you love kow this everyday, cause you never know when they might be gone.

Just had to share my feelings with you guys.

I was coming in the front gate of the base yesterday morning on my motorcycle and got hit from behind. I was stopped at the gate guard (they check ID), had my big, ugly reflective vest on, handing my ID to an armed gate guard who also was wearing a big, ugly reflective vest.

Suddenly the guard looks behind me and shouts “HEY, STOP!!!”, then BAM, I get hit. Luckily, it was very slow speed, didn’t knock me off the bike, but knocked me forward about 6 inches. No damage to the bike. Could have been very bad if this guy was going any faster.

It can happen in an instant.

Make sure you have life insurance, even if it’s only term.

I’ve lost one former student in Iraq, several to drugs (teaching for 26 years btw), one in a house fire, and one t-boned by a driver going > 100 mph. I’ve also lost a fiance, 2 days before her 24th birthday. My wife miscarried twice before my first son was born.

Death is everywhere.
