Working and Lifting

I just wanted to first of all say hi. Im knew here and this is my first post. My question to all is I work construction for a living and bust my a@# most of the day. How do I balance that with weight lifting at night? Am I over doing it lifting and working all day? And is there a program anyone could recommend that isnt to time consuming but hits the major points? Ireally wanna build a strong core more than anything.
