work out periodization

I’ve been following the workout regimen posted in “Planet Muscle” about doing light workouts followed by heavy one then light,then on heavyworkout go 5lbs extra on your bar doing not less than 10 reps but failure here,it works wonder

Ian King addressed this in a heavy Metal column that made it to Issue #3 or 4 of the print Mag. If memory serves me, he doesn’t like the system because it reduces the number of Heavy workouts you can do in a training year. Why not just rest adequately between heavy workouts and skip the light day was his rationale.
