Windows Movie Maker

I have been watching alot of these youtube movies, and they’ve inspired me to make home movies of different things with music.

Anyway, I had movie maker on my computer, but never used it.

Today, I ran the program. Came up fine. But when I began to drag down videos and music to the bottom, it gave me a message, saying something like “You have encountered a problem, the program needs to shut down”, giving me the options to debug, close, cancel.

Well I tried debugging it. I tried reinstalling Service Pack 2. I would really like to get this thing working.

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S Are there any other free programs that allow you to add music to movies?

VirtualDub is free and quite powerful (for cutting/encoding, it gets trickier with titles and FX), but I’m not sure if you could consider it beginner-friendly

A lot of times that error message means that you either a) don’t have enough memory (RAM) to accomplish what you’re trying to do or b) there’s an issue with the software and you should uninstall it and then re-install it. How much RAM do you have? I wouldn’t attempt any video editing with less that 256mb and I’d strongly recommend 512mb.
