Why Attacks on Trump Don't Work

I agree, generally, related to this election cycle, but feel it necessary to at least try.

When was the last time a narcissist nut-job type wasn’t the president? The reality is, head of state jobs do not attract benevolent types.

The last Republican president started a war on a false assertion that lead to the death of a million Iraqis, displaced millions more and now leading to the end of Europe via the migrant crisis.

Do I need to mention Obama’s foreign policy failings?

What I’m trying to get at here is by what barometer are you judging him by?

Yep. NO comparison b/w Europe and the US is legitimate if it doesn’t account for the fact that the latter COUNTRY funds and mans the wall of security behind which the former CONTINENT is free to live in its pleasant soft-socialist daze…and has done so for more than half a century.

I would agree if the socialist candidate in question was not an aging balding grey haired old socialist. He has gained many millennial followers. But, to win he must cut across many demographics and he won’t be able to do that.

Funny thing those over 65 actually don’t want anyone even close to their age. Then you have 30, 40 and 50 year old women who find him repulsive.

Anyway, Bernie not unlike Hillary will never become President. And if they do Sloth is never posting here again…oh wait…

Yeah millennial have his back. My FB is all pro-Bernie

I will add I think the game is rigged, but not in the way they think.

We went over this. You tried and failed, repeatedly and spectacularly, to defend Trump and his supporters. Fascism, you failed and ran off. White supremacists, you failed and ran off (after getting pitifully thumped for trying the KKK out with Clinton, no less). Intelligence, you failed and ran off. Everything we said you limply and vaguely objected to…and then, pressed just a little, caved like a skull under an axe.

Just as with the Muslim ban’s Constitutionality: you have been offered many opportunities to try to make an actual case. You have invariably – and for reasons mysterious to nobody – declined. That’s your right, but you don’t then get to pretend none of it has happened.

Edit: Keeping in mind that that was at a time when Trump fans, idiots every single one, were choosing this mumbling pile of shit from among more than a dozen candidates. Of course, we are still at a point where to choose Trump is to debase oneself in a way that is unprecedented in modern American politics – try me on that if you like, I’d love to whoop you on Trump yet another time – but it was really a special kind of idiot/garbage person who was supporting Trump when Bush and Cruz and Kasich and Rubio and etc. were still around.

Bloody terrorists using violence. Should of just paid their taxes, what ever happened to render unto Caesar?

I’m curious to what your take is on him. My low-level analysis is I agree with him about domestic policies, especially related to economy and spending but I am concerned with what would happen related to foreign policy.

I agree and I think in things related to this (managning our economy and domestic social policies) he would do VERY well, but as governor you don’t have to worry about foreign policy.

I read somewhere that he plans on cutting 50% of our military budget. Overall I believe he plans on cutting 43% of the budget and hopefully would actually take a look at entitlement programs unlike the two presumptive nominees. Cutting government spending is music to my ears, but I’m not sure how cutting our military so dramatically would play out.

I have not read much on his foreign policy positions, yet. I like what I’ve read for the reasons you mention (domestic policies especially related to budgeting). He clearly doesn’t like the war on drugs so a considerable amount of money could be saved there. I have not seen much on entitlement reform at this point either. I have a lot more reading to do on his positions.

Cutting 50% of our military budget would never fly and would irresponsible so I hope that is not the case. Some cuts and re-organization, sure, but not 50%. We are going to have to spend a lot of money on updating our weapons systems as it is. it would be difficult @ 50% of our current budget. Even non-military DOD agency should be carefully considered. How contractors bill and their results is another issue that needs to be looked at. Lockheed should not get away with the disaster the F-35 has been.

I personally think there needs to be a complete re-structuring of the civilian side of the DOD and you could find significant savings there.

I agree, let me know what else you find about him. Even with a few red flags, he doesn’t have nearly as many as HRC or Trump.

he seems really good on many issues, however he was recently on the Joe Rogan podcast and his lack of awareness on geo politics was startling.

He said he thought maybe Iran was funding ISIS’s attack on Paris and thats why he was against the Iran deal (something he was for before he started welcoming donors).

The utter ridiculousness that Iran, a shia twelver extremist state, someone IS hate more than the west and even the jews, who they want to commit genocide on and think destroyed their last caliphate, would fund IS, makes me question his judgement. Iran and the kurds are the main forces fighting ISIS, how can he make such a stupid statement like that, even Trump, whose one redeeming feature is that he would likely actually do something about ISIS, recognises Iran as the main force stopping them from taking Syria and Iraq completely over the last 3 years!

I also think his consumption tax idea is terrible too. However I would take him over both trump and Hilary any day. He is in favour of rolling back US funding of NATO like me too.

I would also add procurement to all you said.

The waste is staggering. I always said that they should have Wal-Mart responsible for procurement (their system of inventory checking and ordering is supposed to be the best ever devised); and perhaps billions could be saved.

(Won’t happen…but it’s something to think about!)

Where have you seen that? All l’ve seen is defense cuts (which maybe is where you saw it) and cuts to foreign aide.

He spoke about it on Joe Rogan’s podcast, he said he does not think the US should be funding defence to the level it is and that the U.S is covering far more funding in NATO than any other member and that they shouldn’t.

I agree with him and think the EU should have our force, break up NATO and the US can just fund their own.

Ya, I agree. Accountability for purchases, or lack there of, is another issue, at least it was in the military. I used to order various flight equipment for a number of F-18 squadrons when I was on active duty. At the end of each quarter we’d be instructed to spend as much money as needed to “make sure our funding wasn’t reduced in the future”. We’d buy all sorts of stuff we didn’t need including Gerber knives and multi tools. These things were like $50+ a pop and, surprise surprise, several would be missing once we got the package from receiving. On more than one occasion a staff NCO would flat out tell me they took one. No one cared, it was complete waste and fraud no less. I was too young or naive to really think anything of it and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t partake early on. I’m actually pretty ashamed of that now.

Interesting.

NATO isn’t breaking up…Not anytime soon anyway.

Johnson will be the choice. He has the only real shot, if the promise of funding from David Koch comes through.

McAfee and Petersen have little chance.

Johnson is very much in the vein of…why the fuck are we spending so much damn money on all this shit?

This includes foreign and domestic spending programs…this of course means all the fat pigs slurping from the troughs on both sides of the aisle hate his guts.

Which is the problem. In a few years they will make up the majority of the electorate and we are fucked. Bloodbath now, maybe. Later…they’ll own it.

Not well, I can tell you that. We need to cut spending, and yes that includes military, but hacking off a leg before even analyzing the symptoms and diagnosing is no way to do medicine. I can also tell you, as a guy very close to a lot of active duty men and women, that the soldier on the ground will get fuuuuuuuucked. I am sure vets here can tell you the first people to suffer are the very last who should be getting shit cut away.

Ah, I’m not so sure. 4-8 years from now could be a completely different climate. Typically, from what I’ve seen, older millennials are not nearly as supportive of Bernie and my assumption is it is because a greater percentage of this demographic is employed and is approaching management if they aren’t there already. The same will likely be the case for younger millennials in 4-8 years.
