Why Are HIT People Into Ayn Rand?

Yeah, it had nothing to do with all the meth and street drugs. Damn you, steroids! I’m waiting for steroids to be linked to Osama Bin Laden.

Yes. Roidz are the devils’ cocktail.

I use the Zodiac and ass-trology to justify my training methods.

Mercury is in retrograde, must not work 'till failure (like, EVER!).

It’s actually due to Mike Mentzer. He tried to use philosophy to justify his goofy training methods. First it was Nietczhe,sp, in the 70s, then he jumped on the Rand train before he died.

I read a few of her books and enjoyed them, but using her ideas to justify training methods is goofy.

Well said. Other adjectives are: retarded, crap-tastic, dense, dumb-assery, Paris Hilton-ish and my personal favorite, “shitty”.

I did hear he had a hankering for meth.

I’ve know guys on steroids and have not seen roid rage. I’ve seen beer rage, and meth rage, and a combo cocktail of chemicals rage.

Funny how steroids get the rap.

It ain’t just Mentzer… you log onto any of the HIT websites and they are all whacked out on objectivism. I’m no philosophist but I just don’t understand what all that jabber has to do with strength training
http://www.drdarden.com never talks about Rand and objectivism. So there! Ahh from what I understand objectivism is when you focus on yourself to get the most results and make your own life worth living. Bodybuilding is an equally selfish activity in its own right.

Pretty fucked up stuff…
Whoa! Was she a crazy bitch! Can you even SAY that?!

That brings up a good point.

What’s the relationship between roidz heads that buy only benz? WTF! Why are they so mindfucked that they only got to drive a benz?

Makes no sense. Can someone explain?

Erm… Plato was a philosopher. Hegel was a philosopher. Heidegger was a philosopher.

Ayn Rand might have been a philosopher, except for the little detail of her not quite understanding that well what the real philosophers had to say.

She was a pretty good motivational writer, and some of the themes developed by her seem to help some people get their shit together.
But to call her writings a “philosophy”… What’s next, creationism is Science?

rotfl

I used him in a paper I did on morals and ethics, and suggested that philsophers are mostly considered non trust worthy by people.

Apparently I was wrong.

Can something if repeated enough become true…

Mentzer talked a lot about Rand in article before his death. He also talked about Nietzche in articles back in the 70s. He tried to justify his training methods with the stuff.

Yeah I agree.

Her books were a good read but her philosophy was lacking when stacked up against more prolific philosophical writers.

Mentzer was an interesting figure and had some good points on training but I don’t see why anyone would put much stock in his later ideas as they were obviously coming from a disturbed and emotionally and physically unsound individual.

I only have one cent to add to this and that is that Ayn rhymes with line.
