Really? I am on Darden’s HIT website all the time. Rand, objectivism, or any of that crap are NEVER mentioned.

I always though the connection between Rynd and HIT was a little weird. I can’t imagine if any of her heroes took up lifting they would be HIT’ers. They were always preoccupied with results, and didn’t give a damn about much else.
It’s weird that Rand is made fun of but Anton LaVey is considered a serious philosopher. The internet is a weird place.

I am into Ayn Rand, but am by no means into HIT. I don’t see how the two became synonymous. As entheogens pointed out, she extolled the virtues of living for yourself, the virtue of RATIONAL selfishness and creating. I had some crazy bitch walk up to me while I was reading The Fountainhead at the park a few years back and tap me on the shoulder and say:“Why would you read something like that?”. I wish I had something witty to say to her but I was kind of shocked and just mumbled something like:“Ahh…I don’t know…are you ok to just…walk around by yourself?”.

It’s actually due to Mike Mentzer. He tried to use philosophy to justify his goofy training methods. First it was Nietczhe,sp, in the 70s, then he jumped on the Rand train before he died.
I read a few of her books and enjoyed them, but using her ideas to justify training methods is goofy.
