Who is The Best Singer?

It must be Luther Vandross in my opinion…

Chris Cornell (at least in his Soundgarden days)

Paul Rodgers

Chris Robinson

Geoff Tate

Al Greene

the list is endless. It’s hard to pick one BEST.

Obviously Willie Nelson Clip.

His GF.

Bruce Dickinson was amazing in his 20s and still is today.

What do you mean by “best”? Technique is not everything. Listen to Jeff Buckley’s “Hallelujah,” or KD Lang’s. They both have good voices (KD Lang is great), but don’t focus on displaying technique. On the other hand, Rufus Wainwright, and most other people covering the piece, ruin it despite good vocal technique. For more of the same, compare Sinatra’s “my way” to Robbie Williams’ version (which is abysmal).

Leonard Cohen, 74, who has definitely improved with age. On older recordings his voice could be grating.

This is from a July 2008 concert in London. The DVD and CD were just released today:

Cohen is outstanding. He’d have retired by now, by his financial advisor robbed him for every dollar he had, so it looks like he’ll be recording until he’s dead.

I just sang Outdoor Type to She Say and Sen the Fourth…trust me…any schlub is as good singing as Leonard Cohen…sognwriting? Not so much…but singing…do rey fucking me…not so hard…

I like to sing ah
About the moon ah
And the June ah
