Yikes! Did Kimbo actually destroy that dude’s eyeball?[/quote]

I read… somewhere… that the guy’s eye socket was broken.

Kimbo’s real name is Kev Ferguson.

A couple of thoughts:

1-How much does he make betting on himself in one of these fights. I’m sure there must be betting otherwise, what’s the point?

2-Does this guy have a real job or does he do this for a living?

3-I wonder why he’s not in jail as this stuff has to be illegal.

I think he works as security in the Porn industry. Tells you a bit on the Wiki link I posted.

Two consenting adults can have a private fight in their backyard.

I just dont think you can bet.

But I might be just talking out of my ass.

What a dumbass.

He’s on Myspace

Unless its just some kid dickin about.

I would like to think that ‘talking out of one’s arse’ will never be discouraged here at T-Nation…in fact I think we should encourage it at every possible opportunity.

I love his entourage of dog-washers whose sole purpose in life seems to be to associate themselves with him. Losers.

Wuss…

lol

Anyways cant wait to get home and watch some of the vids.

If Kimbo got a bit more wind and stamina and learned some grappling for a few years he’d be pretty good. I just went along to watch a jui-jistu class, thinking of joining. There is a guy there who is a fairly decent boxer with a few regional titles under his belt who also has been doing JJ for about 3 years and he’s getting into the MMA thing soon. I’m no expert though, just boxing and grappling looks like a decent combo.

You’re a pussy.

1- He can make quite a bit, personal grudges can get bets into the hundreds of thousands.

2- Probably does that for a living. Is it wrong to follow your own path? Or must everyone be a chin-up contesting push-over?

3- He fought a cop, so obviously it’s not. Even if it is, the police have better things to work on than taking down fighting rings.

I’ve seen him in person, and don’t believe he is that talented. But he is following his own goals, and making quite a name for himself.

From what I have seen, the only competent fighter he has fought kinda of beat the crap out of him. He seems to mostly call out all the wanna-be badass thugs and beat the tar out of them…which isn’t really a bad thing in my book.

His “posse” on the other hand is quite annoying.

I like their h2’s though.

Wheather or not you think he’s a badass or a phony it’s about as hardcore as it gets to stand there and let someone take 3 full-on shots at you and not even flinch. I think the 1988 Mike Tyson would’ve killed him.

Gannon, the cop who beat kimbo in that long fight went on to fight one match in the UFC. he got his ass beat in 4 minutes. that just shows are ridiculous those UFC guys are

I found this. Kimbo vs Gannon.

Also. Kimbo Slice - Wikipedia

Following the Kimbo v. Gannon fight, it was unclear if either fighter should have been disqualified for breaking the rules, and what the rules really were. Some people felt that Gannon cheated, and others felt that Kimbo’s entourage interfered with the fight. Gannon posted the following message to a MMA discussion board following the fight under the moniker GannonTheCannon:

hi everybody, i’m just got back from the hospital, was reading the threads, am touched by the support i’ve gotten from so many people. would like to clarify a few points - i don’t like being accused of being a cheater, especially by people who don’t have a clue what the rules actually were. we originally wanted a no rules match, but kimbos people demanded special rules to protect their fighter. we wrote a (very) short list of rules and both parties signed off on it prior to the fight. they asked for no groundwork and this was agreed to. we never agreed to no submissions, and we can’t be held responsible if his team was so ignorant of our sport that they didn’t realize you could do submissions standing. same with knees. they asked for no kicks and we agreed. kicks were clearly defined as “striking with any part of the shin or foot”. knee strikes were completely legal. i followed the rules to the letter, but kimbos team violated them repeatedly. the rules were signed by both parties prior to fight time. our team was completely aware of the rules, and all the chaos stemmed from a lack of real fight experience on his team. it was like when tyson had his buddies work his corner in the buster douglas fight, and they didn’t even bring an endswell. kimbo is tremendous competitor and deserved better. i don’t know if his medical insurance is as good as mine, and i wrote to iceberg about setting up a fund to help him if he needs it. if he isn’t hurt, he still deserves some bread for being such a warrior and having a tremendous heart. anyone who was entertained by the fight should kick him a little something, he earned it. and again, thank you for your support.

I’m a pussy for asking questions about what he does?

I guess you must be a KID because you’re not making any sense. And even if your not a kid, since you are posting like one that’s what I’ll call you.

Where did I say it was wrong KID? Reading comprehension problems? Thinking it is illegal is not making a value judgment. (eye roll)

Oh the Chin-up thing huh? It bothers you…pity.

Ha ha…looking for a fight KID? What happened did mommy send you to bed early and you’re pissed off?

Duh…“A cop is doing it so it must be legal.”

What a moronic statement…sheesh…

Did you even read this thread?

Someone said earlier that the cop almost lost his job over the incident. Besides KID are you that young and foolish (or maybe just foolish) that you think there has never been a cop who broke the law?

You’re really not that bright are you?

You are a naive little twit…

No endurance. A young, aggressive Tyson would have smoked this guy in under 3 minutes w/ a barrage of hooks and upper-cuts.

so thats what happened to mr.T. i was wondering where he went.
