I went out to my oldest peeps house yesterday because he has company coming in for the 4th. He is 94
He was not well. His a/c went out and it was hot as hell in there! That coupled with him stumbling around made for a very nerve racking day.
I had to catch him 4 times to keep him from falling. We managed to take out a lamp on the last one. He is a big man with a lot of pride. I kept telling him to help me help him and I don’t know if he thought I couldn’t or was just too stubborn!
I called his family and they came down stayed for about 30 mins then left me there with him
By the time I left I was a nervous wreck! In my opinion he needed to go to the hospital, but it wasn’t my call.
He finally went to his daughter’s house, 5 fricking hours later. Ugh!
I told my boss they these were unacceptable working conditioning. By the time I got home I was wrung out.
I usually take Sunday off from training, but I may have to go out and burn off the crazy!
oh EYYYYYEEEEAAAHHHH!!!

Happy 4th!
I have been looking for a few more plates. Saw an ad on a swap page. Made a low ball offer and the guy took it!
I contacted him about picking them up and he couldn’t give me a street address, so I was VERY skeptical about going to get them. Got nervous about going out to the middle of nowhere by myself to pick them up. Almost backed out. So, glad I didn’t!
He was a sweetheart! Out of al the crap I have bought like this, he was the first one I have met that actually knew how to lift. He is a powerlifter! He had and his buddy has an awesome little setup! He set a state record at his last meet on bench
It was nice talking to somebody face to face that didn’t think I was crazy for lifting.
Told me he would probably be at the Sept meet (the one I want to do) and he would help me out with how things work.
Anyway, ended up with 505lbs of plates for $150! Felt really guilty for low balling him.
So this morning I just packed everything to the gym. Over head carries. Good enough for rest day.
SCORE!!! I wouldn’t feel bad about low balling him, if he is a lifter he knows what he wants in plates…but I think the plates you scored are GREAT!!!
You made a cool lifting connection too! :D!!!
Thanks Brute! Now, I may be able to get a little more creative!
Nice score. When I put my gym together in 2009 I got a similar gift. I paid $100 for over 700lbs in plates. It was from a rowing teams strength coach that I met, of all places, on T-nation. I just had to drive to the other side of Toronto but it was well worth it.
Sweet! Helluva deal!

Well we got some much needed rain yesterday! Thank goodness. We were burning up. Side effect was…lightning.
Took out our big a/c unit. Robbed Peter to pay Paul and put the smaller one in to cool the bedrooms. NOT what I wanted to do at 11pm.
Will just list this as lifting odd objects, at impossible angles, in the dark, uphill, in the snow, both ways! Grrr!
Okay, maybe it wasn’t that bad, but I wasn’t very happy about it

A bunch with just the bar. Sets of 5-10. Various grip widths. It sucks on all of them🤣
Making stones?
Yes, I would like to make some stones. I have to over think it for a while before actually doubt it. I think I am just about ready.
You considering making lifting stones? How? I’ve seen some success with using a ball that doesn’t deflate and filling it with cement.
I am thinking of using a ball to make a fiberglass mold. I am 100% sure I will have to experiment with the amount of cement to adjust the weight. The core being the adjustment point. No way in hell I am strong enough to pick up a solid stone. Yet!

Was tired before I started. Mowed three yards yesterday. After that I helped a guy unload a load of watermelon and cantaloupe. Scored two free, locally gtown, yellow meated watermelons! My fave!
Might do something else after I eat this package of bacon.
And at some point address this a/c situation. This is NOT acceptable. Them go see the fireworks tonight. I wanted to go to the whole festival but NO! Jed doesn’t want to go. I want to do the Zip Line
Here’s a video I watched several months ago. I’ve been thinking about making some too. Rogue sells a relatively inexpensive version of a mold (and there’s another one too that seems to be the goto but can’t remember the name of it).
I also think Brian Alsruhe has a vid on his YouTube channel that shows the entire process using that other goto mold)
I appreciate it. I have watched this and it seems simple enough. We will see!

i have this static ball. It weighs about 10-15 pounds. Around 11-12 inches in diameter. How heavy do y’all think it would be filled with cement?
