Whey and Acne

#1

Does anyone know why whey may cause acne/pimples in some?

I have read that it may be the insulin spike or the IGF-1. Could it be the Iodine content?

Would the type of Whey i.e. concentrate , isolate, hydrolyzed make a difference in the insulin spike, or Iodine content.

I am guessing it is due to the fact that many people have an intolerance to dairy. If that is the case, I don’t think it matters what type of whey one ingests. Unfortunately, all types of whey break out my skin.

yeah its the dairy/lactase.

Hydrolyzed whey is the easiest on the skin

I have read the fast insulin spikes start a “chain reaction” the ultimately lead to over production of sebum which clogs the pores causing inflammation and pimples. If this is so “in some” than hydro may also be an issue as it has that going for it.

Of course the occasional spike especially well timed around training should not cause a problem as the body is utilizing the spike.
