do you just stuff some whey in pills or take out certain amino acids from soy protien. i am curious what makes a bcaa supplement good or if one is just filled with pure soybean oil
BCAA’s are Branched Chain Amino Acids - L-Leucine, L-Valine, L-Isoleucine. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and many have linked BCAA’s to muscle recovery and protein synthesis.
Most will agree that BCAA’s are most effective for intra-workout (during) for endurance athletes to prevent muscle breakdown. There has been some hype recently about Leucine and it may play a part in protein synthesis. I believe there is a fair amount of research available on the topic if you are interested.
BCAA’s are very different from soybean oil, but whey protein shakes do contain BCAA’s - sometimes in large concentrations if you are looking at a higher quality product. In fact BCAA content is sometimes used to gauge the quality of protein shakes.
