When to Fail or Optimal Failing ?

I like bringing sets to positive failure, i gain weekly.
I read all numbers. I like training frequently. For faster recovery, should i plan to positively fail around 40, 60, 90 or 120 seconds?

All my muscles are endurance experts. My goal is gaining 8 to 15 pounds (i am 54)to stay/feel young for 3 more decades.

Use your age…this year at 54, next year at 55, and so on.
