Because Rippetoe does not believe in it being necessary while Defranco thinks it’s useful. However, you’ll find that Defranco keeps saying that your assistance exercises are not a dealbreaker. Is your bench improving, is your squat increasing - what about your max number of pull ups? These are the core elements and I’D love to answer any questions you may have about them.
