Whats My Goal?

i'm a beginner and i'm trying to figure out strength training goals. should someone start with specific goals or should they build a general foundation first?

What are the different schools of strength training?

Heh, nice name.

I've heard it said that when you achieve bodyweight for bench and squat and 1.5 x bodyweight for deads, that you've achieved a basic level of fitness.

I may have it wrong with respect to deads vs squats, I'm not entirely sure.
Anyhow, just realize this is something you'll be able to do for a lifetime. Set some reasonable goals, and adjust them as you get more experienced.
