What to Do on 6 Days Away From Gym?

Because of work I end up being away from a gym for 6 days straight every 2 weeks. On the 8 days with a gym I work out every 2 days, but I feel like my 6 days off are wasted. We usually snowboard once in those 6 days, but that’s about it.

I am thinking about buying some kettlebells to play around with, but could you guys recommend anything specific I should be doing on those days off?

Thanks!

Maybe go to another gym?

buy resistance bands and do body weight stuff

Ummm, find another gym?

what are your goals? If you just want to stay fit and not get really big/strong, then you really don’t need to go to a gym at all to train. Based on your post I suspect this might be the case.

wide grip push-ups, narrow push-ups, regular push-ups, diamond push-ups, “clap” push-ups, planks, leg raises, sicilian crunches, wall-squats, lateral step-ups or lunges carrying something heavy, dips between two sturdy chairs or desks. i don’t know, I’m just making things up at this points. You need to be creative. Most of the exercises can be done anywhere provided some creativity. Kettlebells would help, but are you prepared to carry an extra 50lbs (maybe two 25 pounders) on your trips?

One question I have about nutrition is how should my diet change between workout days and non-workout days, especially for calories.

If you’re training for strength, most people add about 500-800 calories on workout days unless they’re doing crazy intense stuff and are going for G-flux.

Are you travelling by car? If so, then yeah a 25# kettlebell can do a lot for you, but don’t neglect BW stuff with bands like other people mentioned. If you can, pick up one of those Iron Gym Pullup bar that you can attach to a door. If you have doors where you are, you can do some pullups.

The only thing for me that differs on days that I KNOW I’m not training I don’t try and eat a lot of fat around the workout and I also try and get a lot of carbs pre-workout…

Apart from that I just focus on getting enough protein each day and add carbs and fats when i’m hungry. Its that simple!
