The Honeycrisp created by my alma mater is my favorite. Not just because it came from my school. I think it has the best texture, and balance of sweet to sour.
They are expensive though.
A baked or slow-cooked granny smith has a certain kind of magic. And since it’s green it counts as a vegetable. #realscience
If you ever use a slow cooker (Crock Pot) for oats, toss in a few. Should work with an Insta Pot too.
From the grocery store: Gala
From the orchard: Cortland
Ditto. Nothing beats a Honey Crisp. The problem is my grocery charges a lot more for them per lb and then only carries the jumbo sized ones.
Don’t know if it’s necessarily my favorite, but I find myself eating Fuji more often lately. How about you, @throwawayfitness? What’s yours?
I am about as far from an apple connoisseur as a person can get. I don’t use any apples as part of my fruit diet considerations. But if I must pick a favorite apple to eat raw for sweetness and texture, and price, I would choose a Fuji.
This may be the best thread ever. Gala, Fuji, and Honey Crisp are usually our go-to apples, but if you ever see a Cosmic Crisp in the store, grab one. They’re mind-blowing. It’s basically a dessert.
Gala, Fuji, or honey crisp. Granny Smith for salads.
Fuji and Crispin.
Gala for me as long as its crunchy, i hate soft apples
grew up near Soergels Orchid in Pittsburgh back in the 70s, used to pick and eat all day long when i was a kid,
Another vote for Gala. Or any apple that drops off a tree and isn’t transported to a shop…
Any of the red apples really.
Fuji red apple for me.
Honeycrisp for certain! I try to eat one several times per week after lunch.
Honey Crisp & I’ll second Danis Cosmic Crisp.
I’m right behind Trax. My back yard goes into their fields.
Another vote for Honeycrisp, but Pink Lady is a close second.
Well, dang. Now I have to keep a close eye out for these. Thanks!
