We are unique, name another country that is even remotely similar to the USA.

Athens, Roman Empire…

Not really - I should have been more clear, my fault. I was referring to the great melting pot that makes up America. We are truly unique.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m sure that due to the Roman Empire’s extensive reach, it was a fair blend of cultures.

Most economist say that the problem is government trying to rescue the economy. History tells us that it doesn’t work. They only make it worse. Besides, bailouts are unconstitutional. The market goes through cycles and needs to correct itself. Everytime the feds step in it just makes a deeper hole. The scary thing is the fact we won’t be able to take back the stimulus they are putting into the system. Food prices are expected to rise dramatically in only a few months, which shouldn’t surprise anyone due to the fact that commodities are rising across the board. That tells us that more investors are having less faith in the stock market, because the fed is artificially propping it up. We need to take back the Bretton Woods Agreement.

ORLY?! You don’t have a job? Or do you work for the government?

Yes, we’ve noticed.

It’s almost amusing how people will accuse “capitalism” for the current mess when in reality what the US has is mostly economic fascism and elements of socialism. Capitalism has not really existed in the US for a long time, excepting certain incomplete elements of it.

We have capitalism in the software, internet and electronic consumer items industry.

I find it amusing that people expect and practically demand constant innovations and improvements in that areas and yet gasp at the thought of turning over the real important sectors to the market.

Hence we have shiny new toys but lacking innovation in the education and healthcare industry.

I think the word we are all looking for is plutocracy…

"Plutocracy is rule by the wealthy, or power provided by wealth. "

I’m finding it amusing how you lay out a really good, informative post and then people rant on about how truly unique and special America is and how there’s nothing like it, then argue technicalities about loads of other crap.

Rant aside, does anyone have any more input on the OP? This is a pretty serious topic IMO.

Will “Net Neutrality” affect T-Nation? In case some of you haven’t noticed there was some type of internet regulation passed today (12/21/2010). Apparently it is a big deal and people are ticked. How does it affect us? How much more is it going to cost us?
Do you think the empire presently build on cards will make it to QE4? Times are changing. I should copyright that. :)
I think they passed QE3. Maybe not publicly. It might be the one that sinks this country. The economy is on the slow decline again because all the recent growth was just a result of inflation. They are doing an inflation stimulation again, which will make the ultimate collapse even worse than it would have been in 2008. Nothing has fundamentally changed since 2008 to signal a real recovery. The debt is projected to hit 20 trillion in the next four years unless the feds make some very tough decisions that will affect all of us. The sooner the collapse the sooner we can strengthen our dollar. Printing money while people are laying off is crazy. Can’t outgrow the debt when companies are starting to layoff again due to healthcare changes and probable tax and interest rate increases. QE4 will be ugly if it gets to that.

another looming question is whether the unemployed will find work despite advances in technology requiring less laborers. i heard companies found ways to work around a reduced labor force. Machinery is taking over. I do landscaping and things like removing landscape rock around a good sized house only takes a couple of guys two days with a walk behind mini skid loader. I’m old enough to know what it was like in the 80’s when they didn’t have those mini’s where you could safely get close to a house w/o destroying the lawn. if they had them they werent as common. back then it would take 5X longer and more people sweating away. i know people will argue that it took more people to build that machine, but what if the machine racks up 3000-4000 hours. no way it took that many hours to build that mini skid steer.

QE3 was launched in Sept. Now there are talks of QE4 from credible sources. Or at least the most credible sources I should say. Google QE4 for this month.

I’ll take one for the team, and be a househusband lol. It’s a hard choice, but I do it for my country! For the economy!
