What Do You Want From Lifting Weights

I have a big list of aspirations That I would like to achieve

100 push ups
25 pull ups
run a mile with ease
be able to do a back flip…im a show off at heart lol…
look good naked :smiley:
what do you want to achieve besides benching 500 lbs or squatting 850…

Ridiculous strength/power.

I really see no other reason to lift weights.
I just want to lift and move really heavy shit, really really fast.

I meant no disrespect of Petermus. But his expectations seem a bit unrealistic. I’ve never seen anyone with his stats pull off a “back flip”. And if such person exists, there’s no way in hell they were in their mid-30s.

I know my comment sounded dick-ish, but it was in good faith. To Peter, best of luck with your other goals. Those are realistic.

As for me, I started lifting to look good in the nude. Now, that has evolved to facing Push’s hypothetical wolf.

I want to bench 225 and pull 405 from the floor and squat 315. Those are the within a year goals.

Other than that: have fun, continue to be healthy and never be a fatass again. Keep my body in shape so I can be a better guitarist/musician* (and hopefully inspire more fatty musicians to lift some heavy shit). oh and…look good nekkid, I guess.

*I could barely hold a good posture for an hour before lifting. I can’t imagine trying to give an hour+ recital with back pain or weakness. Imagine the tension created from worrying about that? It’d incapacitate a musician and keep them from doing as well as they could.

Maximal hypertrophy while maintaining a bodyweight of less than 210lbs (I’m 5’ 8". With my bodytype, I look like a fat bastard at 210 with 8% BF)

Enough flexibility, stability, mobility, and overall strength to do just about anything karate or sex related without my back trying to kill me.

Improved health, strength, and longevity to continue lifting weights and doing karate at a high intensity for as many decades as possible.

its ok lol… I have no intention of attempting one for awhile…ive been interested by free running for awhile and its one reason why I want to lose weight. I know ill get there eventually.

im 1/4 way there with push ups lol… better than most of the normal people I know

I’d like to C&J 200 pds in the next year.

I’d like to be the strongest man in my country.

To beat out my dads personal bests.

Also, to try and set a all-time record for the Football record board in my school.

To look good naked. You know, future porn stars can’t really be fat.

Break the 3-4-5 barrier before the end of summer.

In the next year? Lose about 40 pounds, and then get a lot bigger over the winter… I want to get my squat to 405 on a repping basis, hit 250 on incline bench, and dead 475.

Long-term… obviously to get as big and strong as possible.

Look like this.

My short term goals for now are:

-Bench: 225
-Squat: 350
-Deadlift: 400
-Hang Clean: 225
-Increase my vascularity (specifically to get bicep vains)
-Get abs for summer (sue me, I want to look good naked, I can bulk once beach season is over)
-Be strong enough to start as Varsity Inside Linebacker
