I have been training pretty hard for the past 2 weeks and i had a shit squat day yesterday due partly to tiredness so i have taken today off when i normally would be training. but i normally train today.
Im bored out my nut.
On my other off days, there usually off days because im at uni all day or i have work so i have something to entertain me… but today i have nothing.
Ive been practicing the snatch for a bout 2 hours with a broom stick… but i dont think that counts as working out.
The same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. I just couldn’t get through my squats, so I took not only a day off, I took off 3! Came back feeling well-rested.
Sometimes it’s best to work out as often as you feel up for it, while taking days off when your body tells you to - and not just sticking with the rigid schedule.
On my off days I find myself thinking about yesterday’s workout, its effect on me, and what I’ll do better next time.
When I’m not doing that, I review all my numbers and plan what I’m doing next.
I have a major meet coming up in 1 month and I recently had two terrible squat days and was developing an injury due to non-activating glutes. I’ve taken 4 days off completely and 8 days off squatting. During that time I’ve focused on stretching my quads and hips and doing a shit ton of glute activation exercises.
It was very hard for me to take the time off but at this point I can’t afford to tough it out like I normally would.
I’ll kick back and relax … maybe read a book or work out my diet a little … plan meals for the next week or two … That’s what I do in my free time … try to fill it with something productive in one way or the other
I started the Destroying Fat program a couple weeks ago, and I’m simply relieved to have scheduled off days. I always felt guilty about taking my own off days when I was just winging it before.
As to what I actually do… most of the time I’m just trying to stay away from the peanut butter jar. A bowl full of peanut butter is not beneficial for Destroying Fat!
if i dont have work, school or the gym i pretty much do absolutely nothing.
like yesterday we had a snow day and obviously i dont work on days i have school and it happened to be an off day so i just watched a bunch of Lee Haney videos, Markus Ruhl going grocery shopping, i jerked off twice and went to deposit a check, buy shaving clippers and a steak and cheese sub, which was cold when i got home - terrible waste.
