Hang in there. I don’t comment much but I stop by regularly and the one thing that stands out to me is that you keep going. That’s probably the single most important thing that you can do. It kept me just sane enough and functional (I’m a high functioning autistic, and been through depression a few times without medication because I was too stupid to do anything about it) to survive until things got better, and it’ll do the same for you. So yeah, keep at it. Head down and moving forward. Don’t be afraid of the medication either, it’ll take a while to figure out dosages/preferences etc but will help in the long run.

Practical advice: if you can make about the same money doing something less stressful, fucking go for it. That’s what I do. You have no idea how much better it will make your life. Your job is not who you are. YOU are who you are. Your job is just what you do to earn money so being who you are includes a home, food and things to make life a bit more pleasant.

This 100%. If you can structure your life so you can get by on earning less, even better. I worked in advertising for years and made great money but I absolutely hated every soul sucking day of it. Everything was a huge fucking 911 over crap that really doesn’t matter… at all to anyone. It wore me out to the point that I didn’t have energy to think about doing anything else. Fortunately, over time, I was able to reformat my life so I have fewer needs and a job that I mostly enjoy but doesn’t cause me stress and aggravation.

What you do to make a living isn’t who you are and doesn’t define you. Ultimately it’s meant to put food on the table and a roof over your head. I’ve had this conversation quite a bit recently with my children. I think we expect our jobs to fill too many rolls for us and it really doesn’t need to.
