Weight Plate Holes Too Big for Deadlifts

My weight plates are slightly bigger than 2 inches and are a little loose when I deadlift. Once I pull it takes a millisecond before I feel the weight. Does anyone have a DIY on how to close that gap up so I don’t strain my back when I deadlift.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.


You don’t need DIY. You should be pulling the slack out of the bar every rep regardless. The extra gap shouldn’t make a difference, and, if anything, serves as a useful cue to develop tightness off the floor

Tape up the inside if it ain’t much of a gap
