What is considered a good average amount of muscle mass weight gained per month? 2-3lbs/month?
I'd say 1 to 2.5 per month if you are not on anabolics.
Or more if they are just starting. I've seen people make ridiculous gains as beginners on a good program and likewise from people who are "returning" to serious training.
hell, i gained 20 pounds in about 2 weeks when i started the Waterbury method.
considering im a beginner, mr. x is right.

i can gain about 5-10 lbs a month if i really put some effort in it
I returned to lifting about a month ago @ 168, I'm weighing in consitently at 182 now, but I'm gaining a lot slower now.
