Wealth Inequality in America

Actually anarcho capitalists do believe that. Most people think they are nuts. I lean that way but I can’t get around the fact that no society has ever existed for long without a State. Maybe someday aliens will land and tell us “Oh you still have government, how quaint. Our society finally escaped government by enacting ________”

But until then we’re stuck with it.

I feel like ultimately the problem is without a system to check people in place, humans find a way to ruin nearly everything they touch. You can’t beat human nature.

Also I feel the group power of people with a state will make it impossible to live without said state. The second you don’t have a state someone WITH one comes along and takes your shit and kicks you out of the sandbox

An overview of UBI experiments past, present and future.

Awesome link.
Question:
So automation will gradually “take most of our jobs”. So we grant people a UBI which is basically a “don’t starve or freeze to death” level of money. How do we get people employed in the new economy? I doubt that paying millions of people to sit at home and do literally nothing will end well (see Chicago and Detroit).

People don’t want survival level incomes either, they want to create value. How do they do it if we don’t need them?

I’m sure that AI will one day be strong enough to take white collar jobs too.

I honestly want to hear the plan. Do we just tax the owners of the AI/robots ALOT?

Maybe the new economy is robots doing all of the work and people doing what they want?

How do I pay for my robot?

Well, there’s a number of ideas around how it would actually work (and it’s supported by many from all political stripes). Since a UBI wouldn’t have requirements around it, people would be able to work without risk. And in addition to eliminating all welfare/entitlement programs, there would be no need for a minimum wage.

Any amount of UBI that I’ve seen proposed isn’t allowing anyone to live large; it’s just setting a floor beneath them. It would allow people take greater risks by starting businesses, entering a new field, etc. Here’s another article that gives some more details. No one’s got this figured out yet and it’s not clear if it would ever work as hoped. But the tests going on now should provide for some interesting insight.

UBI I guess, lol. I have no idea… I’m honestly at a loss for how to deal with automation.

Automation to the point that no one works, would seem to be a futuristic scheme of what is happening in the Oil Kingdoms now. A ‘benevolent dictator’ pays your way, but basically owns you.

Because someone will own that automation and perhaps all of the guns too.

Here’s how I envision it:

We would end up in a state of complete decadence with nothing but our libidos to satisfy, and nothing on our minds but to come up with new ways to satisfy it.

And some people think the porn is bad now!
