Water Doesn't Hydrate

In the US, pizza is now a "vegetable".

In the EU, water doesn't hydrate.

My universe is imploding....

EU bans claim that water can prevent dehydration

Brussels bureaucrats were ridiculed yesterday after banning drink manufacturers from claiming that water can prevent dehydration.

EU officials concluded that, following a three-year investigation, there was no evidence to prove the previously undisputed fact.

Producers of bottled water are now forbidden by law from making the claim and will face a two-year jail sentence if they defy the edict, which comes into force in the UK next month.

Last night, critics claimed the EU was at odds with both science and common sense. Conservative MEP Roger Helmer said: â??This is stupidity writ large.

â??The euro is burning, the EU is falling apart and yet here they are: highly-paid, highly-pensioned officials worrying about the obvious qualities of water and trying to deny us the right to say what is patently true.

â??If ever there were an episode which demonstrates the folly of the great European project then this is it.â??

In the immortal words of Samuel Clemens- "Common sense ain't that common."

#3

More water for me i suppose.

Lol

#4

Gosh that sure is stupid.

#5

Everyone please observe a moment of silence. Common sense is dead.

#6

it's ok. Frito Lay chips can have a heart healthy symbol, and Lucky Charms can claim made with Whole Grains... being whole grain corn

#7

I guess i`ll just go stuff myself with some pop tarts, they sure are healthy and hydrate me.

#8

At least you'll dehydrate with a smile on your face

So clearly we need to get water on the banned substance list. I mean previously it had a balance between hydrating a person and killing them(hyponatremia). But now clearly it can only kill!

And the 1600 kcal ground meat package can have a symbol of a thin woman with a measuring tape around her waist.

What can prevent dehydratation then?

#12

not seeing how that is the same as the above or even relevant.

btw- don't think I"ve ever seen that package label before

I'm not sure I get the joke, but I'm losing weight and 'ground meat' plays a role....
