THE performance-boosting drug Atkinson took can cause extreme agitation and bizarre behaviour.
Ephedrine, which is banned in sport, is a stimulant which acts on the nervous system to speed up the brain and body.
In correct doses it is a useful medicine and can improve alertness and reactions.
But side effects include a racing pulse, anxiety, insomnia and shakes. In large doses ephedrine can lead to psychotic behaviour and impulsive actions, such as sudden violence or suicide.
Bodybuilding ex-US Marine David Bieber, jailed for life for shooting dead PC Ian Broadhurst in Leeds, was addicted to muscle-enhancing drugs and proteins similar to those used by Atkinson.
Ephedrine can also cause heart problems, high blood pressure and strokes.
Creatine is an amino acid, a type of protein and one of the few legal substances which works in building up muscle strength.
Sun GP Dr Carol Cooper said: ?These drugs are a potentially lethal mix. Creatine can give you extra strength ? ephedrine could make you use it violently’
Creatine is not an Amino acid. There are 20 “usual” and “naturally occuring” amino acids, and a few others which are not found in humans and are found in the environment. Creatine is indeed natural, but is once again not an amino acid.
Either way, Richard Ramirez, the night stalker, he liked eating cheerios before going on a killing spree. The extra blood-glucose levels gave him the necessary endurance he needed to kill people.
A freakin idiot! Journalists such as this should have the sh#t smacked out of them! Oh! Sorry about that small rage episode. It must have been the HMB I’m addicted to!
You guys! The author of the article is the health editor. She obviously might as well be a medical doctor, so she doesn’t have to do “research”. That is for lesser journalists. So if she says that creatine is an amino acid, then it is. Obviously. And that means “ephedrine rage” is real, too. Good thing it’s illegal.
This is probably one of those smear campaigns that are lead by groups like PETA. Muddy the waters and next thing we know there are no facts in the media but decisions being made.
Of course these super-bad chemicals have to be the only reason for violence, as opposed to the people in question being soley to blame.

Yeah, but I don’t consider us the general populace. And we aren’t faxing “preprinted counter releases” to news agencies or physicians nationwide in an attempt to get the details out.
Maybe we should? I’m still looking for a worthwhile crusade… and that would be a full time job I’d be willing to give up my day job for!
