WannaBe’s Last Year Of “DYEL?”

I’m going to bed with a blurry 6 pack actually. (Most days, my bloat can be wild af)

My fat storage genetics suck Dick. Veins on my lower abs and rib cage but still fat as fuck

Thanks guys. I appreciate all the compliments! Been at the beach a few days undoing some dieting :joy:. Coming back strong when I get back though.

Did find a local gym and did a full body workout. Of course after I was done I found a room with all the strongman implements I’ve never seen before and 20+ specialty bars :sob:

30 is when I finally figured stuff out, training wise. Being able to apply maturity and experience will go a LONG way.

Ended my “diet” 5 minutes ago lol

I haven’t made even 1/4 of the progress I wanted too or should have. I’m to the point now where I’m starving myself eating nothing but lean meat and fresh vegetables. I’m extremely mentally unhealthy and physically headed the other direction. Full blown eating disorder where I’m starving myself and staying strict on my diet and then caving 5-8 days in and binging so hardcore I’m undoing everything I’ve done in that week. Or life or work throws me a curve ball and I’m having full blown panic anxiety because I can’t meal prep or can’t workout.

Moving forward I’ll continue to meal prep. Healthy meals. I’ll make general healthy nutrition the only goal for food and work towards eating things I enjoy.
I’ll obviously still hit the gym hard.

The goal is to not have a real goal. Just live the lifestyle that’s sustainable and not mentally defeating with doom and gloom lurking around every corner.

The most successful I’ve ever been in the gym and mentally was when I reached this point about a year ago and “gave up”. I actually took a month off from the gym and a couple months off from meal prep. Believe It or not I made progress then :joy:. I’m gonna go try and find that happy medium spot again and spend a little time in there, just marinating.

Sustainable is such a good way to go! There are multiple ways to get where you want to be. Taking a slower but sustainable path will get you there eventually (not that you don’t look great currently), and you will be much more likely to stay there.

Over the last couple years, I’ve realized more and more that I am kinda fucked up in the head. I am working with a shrink now though and trying to be happier and less depressed and or anxious.

I think for me, I have ended up extreme dieting in the past as well (like not eating any food for 5-6 days at a time). I think at time I was thinking I can control how my body looks. Having control over that or focusing on that so hard was a distraction I think. I’ve also gone to the other end and used food as a crutch. Put on 20-30 lbs of bad weight in a year type of thing.

I agree man. Sounds like we are in the same boat lol

This reply was typed whilst sitting in my therapists office :joy:

Sounds like a fantastic goal. If a competition is looming, we eat like we’re competing. If not: we eat like we’re living.

Balance is key I’ve found! I have better workouts and a better physique when I’m less obsessive than when I go “all in”.

Between storms, call week, and having my kids this weekend I haven’t really had a chance to sleep, let alone workout. Today was the first workout of the surge challenge.

Leg Extension 60 x 10
Leg Curl 60 x 8
Leg Extension 60 x 10

(This is my machine and it’s heavy AF, still went too light though)

Stimulate - 10 second hold at bottom on first and last rep, 5 second negatives

Squat 285 x 10
Leg Extension 90 x 10
Leg Curl 75 x 10

(285 seemed like a good weight until I started counting to 10. Fuck that’s a long time, I had to stop and take a couple breaths, didn’t rack the bar though)

Flutter - continuous half reps for ~30 seconds
Leg Extension 75lbs

Pump

Barbell Row 225 x 8

Darden Pullover 65 x 8
Too light
Chin Up +25lbs x 8
Too light

Stimulate
Darden Pullover 65 x 10
Too light

Flutter
Darden Pullover 65 x 30 seconds
Too light

Pump
Banded Tricep Press Downs x10
Dips +50lbs x 10
Banded Tricep Press Downs x10
Completely useless with the bands

Stimulate
Db Tricep Overhead Extension 90 x 10 90 x 10
Too light but I’m pushing the limits on how much adjustable dumbbell I’ll hoist over my face and head.

Flutter
Db Tricep Overhead Extension 45-roughly 20 seconds
Too light.

Skipped all forearm work because this surge makes my arms cramp something fierce, plus I have carpel tunnel and arthritis.

Nothing positive to say so far. No way in hell y’all are getting this done in 30 minutes unless you spend an hour laying everything out before hand or you’ve memorized the workout to the T and spent time warming up not “on the clock”. I also have no idea how I’m going to do this in a commercial gym.
