Volume ?

As I was sitting in class today I wondered if lets say you can either work out five times a week with say 16 sets per time or drop it to four days with 20-24 sets per time, would either be more beneficial or would they basically equal out? I know its probably over analysing things, but I was just curious.

Option A just may be more optimal for more ppl considering the increased amount of thime for recovery/growth out of the gym. Some though will respond better to the more frequent stimulus.

Give them both a few month run and compare the results.
