I think I heard Dorian Yates refer to a 45 as a cookie in a video once, but I think that was the only time.
Going by his logic, I would call a 2.5 a crumb.

Knew a guy who played college football back home and everytime he wanted to add another plate he’d shout “WAGON WHEEL!” really loudly and then add said “wagon wheel” to the bar.

45- A Plate
35-
25- Half (Halvsie)
10-
5-Frisbee

45-Plate
25-25
10-10
5-5
2.5-cock ring

WTF do you call a 100 lbs plate? We had two at the old gym.

I call em:
45-Jessica
35-Kayla
25-Jennifer
10-Ashton
5-Valerie
2.5-Sally

So a sentence would go like this: Dude I did 5 Jessicas last night on each side! I was so sore afterwards!

The fuck… you look NOTHING like Hurley anymore.

Oh and frisbee is a ridiculous name, weights aren’t saucer like at all!

I hear ya. If I had a nickel for all the times I screamed across the gym to my lifting partner, “HEY, CAN YOU GRAB ME A COUPLE OF COCK RINGS, I’VE ALREADY LOADED ON ALL THE ONES FROM OVER HERE”

people think they sound cool using nicknames.

anyone who ever called a 2.5 a “biscuit” just sounds like an idiot.
you’re just mad you didn’t think of it first
Almost everybody I know uses the phrase “biscuit” for the 2.5’s actually.

Well I am hereby officially adopting “cock ring” for the babies. I like the sound of it.

…wait. Wrong thread.

Kind of related, how common are gyms without 35s? Every gym I’ve been to has had them except one I recently joined. Who has 100s? None of my gyms have ever had those but I’ve worked out a few times at one that did, usually stacked up by the leg press.

Just call them all plates so everyone online will think your strong squating five 2.5s per side.

100- hunnies
45- plate
35- gimp
25- quarter
10- dime
5- nickel
2.5- foreskin

bumpers:

25kg - reds
20kg - blues
15kgs - yellows
10kg - greens

non bumpers and 5kg plates are plates except for

2.5kg - twoandahalf

and the 0.5’s aren’t called anything at all. they just sneak their way on when you aren’t looking, and they make no difference at all. best not to acknowledge their existence until you’ve lifted them.

i bet people have cute names for different bars…

I have always just asked for a plates by their weights… I just kinda wanna know for knowings sake really.

I think of my 25kg iso grip plates as being ‘Wagonwheels’ + I used to refer to a homemade club bell I made a while ago as ‘Vera’. Everything is just referred to as whatever it actually is.
