Pretty happy with this workout despite the lower than planned volume. Super low on food and water, but didn’t hinder the main work much so that’s great. Had a crazy lower back pump and still have a couple hours of work to do tonight so wrapped it up early.

Hotel Conditioning

Treadmill walking: 20 minutes

Started on the highest incline for a while, worked my way back down to flat and bumped the speed up with every change. Nothing special, but it’s something.

Couple long days on the road, but this workout felt good. Elbow is back to feeling wonky, somehow from driving? Not sure but I think it’ll settle down pretty quick.

Just did some super sets instead of circuits, didn’t feel like thinking at all.

Challenge at the end was him holding a plank and me doing an L-sit on the dip bars for time. He won it easy, never had a chance haha.

Yep that’s exactly what it is, pretty unpleasant. I wear a hoodie to try and save my skin a bit. I’m sure if I had a thick bar it’d be an easier experience haha.

First early morning lifting session in quite some time. I always say I want to lift in the AM, but it never sticks, today was a necessity. I for sure prefer my ~6pm sessions.

Balance and mental intensity are what I’m lacking first thing in the morning. Strength doesn’t seem to be affected much but it’s harder to stay focused and keep pace.

A little somthin’

Not really a conditioning workout, but I unloaded about 2 tons of stone by hand today. Just a little somethin’.

Ummm that is a whole lot of something. Great for flexibility, grip, etc…

How is the grip/ hand issues?

Haha it sounds like a lot more than it really was. Still on the mend, managed to do all that without really aggravating it so that’s cool.

I’m starting to wonder if it’s one of those things that will ever fully heal, or if it’ll get to the point of “good enough” and I’ll need to manage it forever.

Haven’t gotten any lifting in the last couple days. Legitimately no time to do so. Pulling 20 hour days this week up till today, finally got some much needed sleep.

Tuesday and yesterday was spent building campsites, lots of hiking and carrying lumber/tools. No way to quantify it, but I’m feeling it today. Also been severely under nourished during that time. All in all though, I feel pretty good.

Going to try and get a squat workout in, have a nasty shin splint in my left leg but I think it’ll be fine.

Changed it up a little for today, just a main work giant set and supplemental work giant set. Didn’t push the pace like I usually do and a bit less volume. This was tough enough today, I’m feeling the week of very little sleep and poor nutrition for sure.

Decided to forego the extra assistance circuit as I’ll need to work in the field again this weekend. Figure I’ll get plenty of reps in there.

Hammer curls may be the secret for my elbow, best it’s felt in quite some time.

How are you liking the neutral grip benching?

Oh how I wish we had one of these…

They make my elbows feel better…they work the bicep and get good blood flow through the elbow. Not sure how or why, but they work for me too…

I like it a lot actually. I’m not as strong on it, would probably use ~20lbs more on a straight bar but I don’t think it’ll take super long to catch up.

The sticking point is a little different, seems a bit higher. I feel like I can grind through a rep longer/harder than with a straight bar too.

Also feels a lot better on the joints. I’m going to stick with it for another full cycle and give it a good 4-5 months as a main ‘bench’ movement, I’ll let you know if anything changes.

I think I’m going to experiment with adding these to my warmup and see if that helps. I know it will during the workout, but more so afterwards when the pump goes away but the inflammation doesn’t haha.

Something in my neck feels pretty awful. 100% from falling asleep for a while on the couch last night, made for very stiff movements and hard to get proper position but oh well, should be fine in a couple days.

I’m going to switch back to 3 days full body after this week with another Frankensteined program.
