New born kids messing with your routine? Get out of here.
Dude, your wife’s FIRST (and only!) priority right now is to ensure the baby is healthy and well-fed. Step outside of yourselves, you vain freaks!
Once the baby is taken care of, i.e., the baby has weaned, then worry about yourselves.
People should konw when they are too selfish to have children. From the sounds of things, you and your wife fall into the “too selfish” category. What a shame.

Ok- breastfeeding is not required by law, so the fact they are choosing this option means they have their child’s best interests in mind.
How would you feel if they had said- since my wife wants to lose weight so we are going to switchover to bottle feeding. Would you condem them just because they don’t want to breastfeed? Only 40% of babies are even breastfed to begin with in the US.
Relax and quit judging people.
It’s pretty simple: Don’t have a child unless you are willing to make major sacrifices - like carrying about a few extra pounds because feeding ketones to kiddies ain’t kool.
Children aren’t in my cards for at least a couple more years - precisely because I want to be selfish for a while longer. I don’t want to spend time and money on a baby. And I don’t want to dampen my career prospects.
So be mature enough to realize whether you want to put the self-interest of another living being above your own. If not, then don’t have children. Seems pretty simple - and non-controversial - to me.

I emphatically dissuade you to do this diet while breast-feeding!!!
You may not only risk the health of the child but also of the mother as she`s needing high amounts of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients at that time.
Wait for a more reasonable time to start it. Having a newborn is enough stress, why you want to put more on yourself?
Btw my wife lost more weight than she gained before in just a few weeks. She didn`t do any sports or diet at that time, she was just kept busy by caring for baby and household.
