Variation on Main Movement

Has anyone tried rotation of two lifts per cycle? For example one week do flat bench and next week use incline with the 5/3/1 percentages.

In the 5/3/1 FAQ, Jim explicitely says this is a bad idea. The percentages are there to add variety, you don’t need different exercises. What you do need is practice at the few exercises that matter to you.

Keep main lifts for several cycles - if you need variety for whatever reason, use it during the supplemental work.
