V-Diet... Contest Diet?

Disclaimer: I know extremely little (and its probably going to show) about bodybuilding contest dieting, this is just a hypothetical question.

Would doing the V diet be suitable as a precontest diet, then carb loading a day before? Or the morning of, whenever you do it.

Again, I know theres much more that goes into dieting, but would this be a simple idea for a bodybuilder to just start out with?
