I remember seeing a guideline for using bands either here or on elitefts. It told you which bands to use based on your max weights, and how you were using the bands. Can anybody help me out?

I'd also recommend joeaveragepowerlifting.com - his system is all about band tension, although his ideas can be implemented into any routine.
Here's one way of doing it for squats, without using heavy dumbells for holding the bands. Just make sure the rack is bolted down!!
