UFC 67

If this were 2005, I would absolutely agree with you. However, anyone that claims the UFC is ‘getting weaker’ after their stellar 2006 is a blind Pride nuthugger. Pride still has the deeper roster IMO, but the UFC defintely closed the gap in 2006 and their ridiculous PPV revenue stream will allow them to continue to make progress in 2007.

Yet I am sure you had no problem at all with the matchmaking for ‘The Real Deal’.

I have no problem with an organization giving guys a few ‘warm-up’ fights to introduce them to the fans. Pride did that with the ‘Real Deal’ card, and the UFC is doing the same thing with this event.
“Pride Nuthugger”? “HMMM” A little sensitive with the facts are we…grow up!

I wouldn’t say they are being fed bullshit fights…thought Cro-Cop will win…Sanchez is a good young fighter…as for the Rampage fight…not sure how long you have been following MMA…but Eastman has fought, and beat Rampage before…Rampage wanted this fight to avenge that loss

Point taken. How about Chuck Liddell and Rampage #2. Now that’s a fight to get excited for and to PAY for. What about the rest of tonights card?

Nope.

I enjoy watching any MMA regardless of organization. I love Pride & the UFC, have really enjoyed the shows put on by the IFL & Strikeforce, have a purchased ton of KOTC & Cage Rage DVD’s, and was one of the few people who actually purchased WFA King of the Streets PPV.

My comment was merely directed at the fact that your statement was patently false. Pride still has the better talent, but the UFC made serious strides towards closing the gap in 2006.

Chuck vs Rampage straight off would never happen. why? UFC is a business. Page needs some exposure to the UFC fans.

For the well informed MMA fan, Rampage vs Chuck and Cro Cop vs all the HWs would be great, but to the TUF noobs and the new to MMA fan, he needs to get these guys some exposure first so he can market a big match between these guys and the champs of their respective weight class.

Best case scenario for UFC and Dana is that Rampage comes out, slams Eastman through the canvas, the fight card is delayed 2 hours while they fix the flooring. Cro Cop comes out, LHKs Sanchez to the noggin, kicks his head off, it lands in Tim sylvia’s lap and wins the fight by fatality.

Then Dana can say “Rampage slammed Eastman and knocked him out and Cro Cop killed a man with a high kick to the head and Tim cried when Sanchez’s head landed in his lap”.

Also I’d like to note that Eastman and Sanchez are not cans. Everything written above is best case scenario for the marketing campaign of Dana and the UFC. Anything can happen in an MMA fight and I give both these guys a better chance then just a punchers chance to win.

Great, more sherdog-esque trolling.

Yeah some of the matches suck in UFC, but PRIDE some the same friggin’ thing. Every knowledgeable MMA fan wants to see Diet Nog face Wanderlei in Vegas, but we’re going to have to see Wanderlei beat up Henderson again. It’s all marketing to get the new fan more interested in the sport.

Yep.

Both Pride and UFC are guilty of some shitty match making but it all comes down to business.

Look at how many times outmatched Japanese fighters are fed to the big guns in Pride, becuase they are popular with the Japanese fans. Wanderlei has stomped many a Japanese head.

I never post in Sherdog, hell I rarely post here. I mostly just read the posts and laugh at a lot of the BS that goes on. A lot of the lingo used in this thread is very Sherdog-esque, but even trolls serve a purpose to some degree. At least we are talkign about MMA.

Wandy vs Hendo is a match I like and dislike. While deep down I wish Hendo could pull this off, I feel Wandy is going to come out firing on all cylinders for this. I’d like to see Hendo win, but the odds are not in his favor.

Okay - I agree, all MMA is to be honored. Let’s enjoy it and talk about it tomorrow.

UFC 67 should be great. The only fight I wanna see is Tyson Griffin vs. Frankie Edgar(RHINO Fight Team) this should be a great fight. Tyson is a great up and comer as is Frankie, I hope this fight helps branch RHINO out further than it is now. On a different note I saw Matt Serra at the Capital in NY, he looked great and was awesome to talk to, he says he is ready for UFC 68 and saw my RHINO shirt and wished Frank good luck. The guy is a class act he signed and took the time to talk to so many people.

Fair enough.

Sorry if I got under your skin earlier, no harm was intended. Hopefully, the event exceeds your expectations and we have some great fights to talk about tommorow.

If he loses he won’t be in the UFC anymore. Dana doesn’t like these kind of shenanigans.

 1. Joe Riggs is still around after missing weight versus Matt Hughes at UFC 56.

 2. Lutter has a TUF winners contract – 3 years and 9 fights. I don’t think Dana even has the option of cutting him until after the first year is over.

 3. Lutter also got a big Xyience endorsement deal for winning TUF. The UFC’s biggest sponsor will be none too pleased if Dana cuts one of their pitchmen after only fight.

Travis might get stuck in undercard hell, but he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
Undercard hell was more or less what I was referring to. He blew his chance, and unless he wins I don’t see him getting another one for a long time.

Has it started yet, If so what are the results so far.

I’m pretty sure Eddie Sanchez has whooped that ass.

Starting right now, and I’m starting a big ass bottle of St Bernardus 12. Peace out!

go to mmaweekly.com if you want to read about the fights only slightly behind real time or wait for internet videos as you said if knowing in advance bothers you.

Jenna Jameson could have hopped the fence and whipped Sanchez’ ass…that guy is a chump

Sanchez couldn’t whip his own ass much less anyone else’s. He got owned by Crocop…it wasn’t even a fair fight…I don’t know much about Sanchez other than he looked WAY outclassed and overpowered by Crocop. All of the Pride fighters won convincingly which I’m sure will settle/spark more debates as to which league has the superior fighters.

This one didn’t start out that well for me. As soon as I clicked “order” on my TV, my box cut off. Fortunately it came back on. Unfortunately I it came on during the Cote/Smith fight.

Seemed like the crowd was even more restless than normal. If the fighters weren’t landing haymakers for 5 seconds, they’d start booing.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Nice change of pace from Anderson Silva, and Rampage and Cro Cop being…well…Rampage and Cro Cop.

The connection cut out on Time Warner in middle of Cote/Smith fight. Never came back on. Called Timer Warner and got a recorded message that they are working on the UFC 67 issue. I better get a refund for this shit.
