Okay, just watched the season finale of Lost, it was alright, any ideas or theories of what is going on?
Government testing?
A real curse?
An out of control cult?
An out of control psychiatrist?
Personally, I think there are no answers and each episode will just get crazier to keep people tuning in until the ratings finally drop and it is phased out with no real end. We are the experiment, how crazy can the show go to get people tuning in for the longest time period. Did we waste a lot of time watching the X Files, was there ever a real end or answers to things? Is this the same?
It is an entertaining TV show and I do like it, I am just trying to figure out some perspective on it.

I was very interesting to find out why their plane crashed. Still pissed off that we don’t know fuckall about the others. Locke and Eko - dead? doubt it, our religious gurus will be back. Druggie boy seems to be back in Claire’s good graces. Where the hell is the others base camp?? Since those huts were obviously there to misinform Michael. Speaking of which, does he sail away? Or will Walt tell him what happened and he comes back to help his old friends? What happened to the ppl writing in all the journals that go to an empty fucking field!?!?
I remember watching an interview with JJ Abrams a while back. This is one of those shows where they seem to write the scripts as they go. I’m guessing all of the open ended questions have more than one answer and they will pick whichever one seems the best when they film it. So to answer your question, no, I don’t think there’s an end to all of this. At least not one that they’ve considered yet. Because yes, they want to keep the show alive as long as possible and the only way to do that is to throw in as many plot twists as possible.
It’s a TV show. I would be willing to bet they have no idea where it is going or what the end will be. One day the network will come to them and say “the ratings just aren’t good enough anymore, we need to pull it” and they will have to scramble to make an ending. People will be pissed because it will seem forced and will leave a lot of questions unanswered. Then people will discuss it for years and years, wondering where they really were and what really happened.

I like it! That might be the very best explanation I have heard of to date. The thing I kind of like is even if it is all BS and they are just making it all up, it really keeps you thinking all different things.

Actually, I remember hearing that the writers (or some other representatives of the show) publically dismissed this - along with the theory that they’re all in a mental ward - as not being the case. I’m too lazy to substantiate this though.
