Really? Because that’s when he was busy attempting to cut money from intelligence…

You wouldn’t happen to have any sources referencing and/or explaining those – especially sources from that time – would you?

I heard Richard Clarke say it early this year. It was also described in an piece about Kerry in yesterday’s New York Times Magazine, page 45.

I also have this quote regarding Kerry’s alleged attempts to cut intelligence spendin (from Richard Cohen of the National Journal, 2003):

“Kerry was especially moderate in his second term when it came to foreign policy issues.” “He opposed the liberal position in key Senate showdowns on missile defense and intelligence spending in 1993 and on procurement of additional F-18 Navy fighters in 1996.”
