Trump/Paul and the First Amendment

Unless explicitly prevented from so doing by the Constitution (like FDR running 4 times), Trump can do what he wants. He should have done it sooner; why leave a door open?

Excellent post! And the Dems just get crazier by the day, with Maxine Watters as their lunatic poster child.

Between her and the socialist NY nut job, the Blue Wave is becoming a Red Storm rising.

Now I saw where Cali wants to charge out of state college kids $1,000/year, to pay for the education of illegal aliens.

Done what sooner?

For Trump; his base; and feeding his ego; is all that matters.

So as I look more closely at my statement; I was probably wrong.

When one looks at excepts from his rallys; listens to his supporters on television; or reads and listens to his supporters on Social Media; Trumps antics are most likely having exactly their desired effect on those that matter to Trump.

It should be noted that his net approval (percentage who approve minus percentage who disapprove) is down in all 50 states since he took office.

(This is from June, so it doesn’t take into account his Helsinki summit or the recent economic news).

We’ll see what happens when the wall doesn’t get built.

No one cares about the wall anymore. We’re near theoretical peak employment. We’re going to have to start bringing even more people in.

Trump sure does.

@zecarlo:

  1. There is simply no way that lack of building of the Wall will be blamed in any way on Trump. A common refrain that I am hearing more and more is “…At least he tried…!”

  2. If past history is any indication; Trump’s support will only increase among his base.

Does precedent exist of Trump failing to deliver yet his base remaining just as motivated to go vote?

I don’t completely understand your question, @pfury because of the wealth of Polling Data and interviews that exist.

Poll after Poll (I especially like the “CBS” ones that appear to dig deeper into the “whys” of particular trends) clearly show that the more Trump is attacked or appears to falter…the stronger his support becomes among his base.

Trump has also shown a propensity to really know how to keep that base extremely motivated in two very direct ways: 1) Tweets and 2) rallies.

It’s almost like the proverbial “throwing gas on the Fire”. When Trump gets attacked; especially by those whom are begged as “the Enemy”; (which is anyone who either disagrees with and/or criticizes Trump); his overall Poll numbers and support increase.

It’s that simple.

Does this underline a complete lack of trust in anything labeled “establishment” (news, parties etc…)? Why would millions of people just throw their hands up and say “this lying scumbag has my support. Screw all those other lying scumbags that tricked us for decades.”?

I have no idea whatsoever…

The closet I have been able to come to an answer is something that has been brought up more than once on this Forum…

It’s not so much who Trump IS…but whom he makes people believe he ISN’T…

I’m afraid you’re way off here. HRC is a ‘lying scumbag.’ Trump is a scalawag.

Scalawag… so he’s basically harmless? Haha.

a person who behaves badly but in an amusingly mischievous rather than harmful way; a rascal.

a white Southerner who collaborated with northern Republicans during Reconstruction, often for personal profit. The term was used derisively by white Southern Democrats who opposed Reconstruction legislation.

Yep. This is the reality–the ‘brand’–Trump has successfully inculcated for himself.

We’re yet to see what happens when Trump runs for office on the back of not delivering on his promises.

Motivated in what way? In the sense that they keep hitting the share button on Facebook?

C’mon, @pfury

Motivated in whatever way you wish to define motivated…

Lol I’m not trying to be argumentative, promise.

But with talks of a ‘motivated base’ and other such nomenclature, I can’t think of a way it matters unless people go out and vote. We also haven’t seen Trump run for any office anywhere after having an actual tract record.

To think his base would not only not be deflated from a failure at the wall, but also to be even more motivated than before, doesn’t make sense to me.

To his base, Trump cannot fail re the wall (or anything else). If the wall is built, Trump’s the winner. And if the wall isn’t built, it’s because of The Swamp–and thus he’s still the winner
