Complete and total bullshit straw man. You claimed he was a great business man. If he took his inheritance and barely managed a decent return rate over 40 years, he’s a shit business man. Unless you definition of a great business man is not squandering an inheritance, you have a pretty low standard.
This line of questioning is about if his a great business man or if he’s a liar and that’s a myth. You resorting to making up things about the morality of inheritance (which would be even more absurd if you knew my political beliefs) is evidence that you have no factual support for the “great business man” myth.
No, he released some statements that disclosed some gross cashflows, but no net and no net worth. He has refused too with the only reasonable explanation being that he’s hiding something.
Trump didn’t do anything special with his inheritance - there are numerous articles showing that had he simply invested the same amount of inherited fortune at historical rates of return, he’d have more money. That point aside, anyone who knows anything about Trump’s playbook knows he’s a swindler and a scam artist who has manipulated bankruptcy (among other things) to achieve what he does have. And that analysis also needs to account for his other scam ventures.
And this bid for the presidency is his latest hustle. And as this forum demonstrates, the list of suckers keeps on growing.
If you’re Hillary Clinton right now, you cannot believe your luck. Hillary thought she was going to have to go up against a up and coming GOP paladin with all the GOP wind at his/her back from all the gains made during the Obama years. Instead, she got a half-literate professional swindler who traffics in conspiracy theories to attack his opponents and who is just as likely as she is to appoint a pro-Roe v. Wade justice to SCOTUS.
I realize I replied to your post. My post wasn’t a direct response to you. I just happened to hit reply to you from my phone, rather than reply on the bottom of the thread.
I do believe that if someone can take an investment and turn it into (insert number) billions of dollars is a, by general definition, a good businessman.

One shred of evidence that he isn’t a conspiracy theorist. That he doesn’t believe in what he forwards.[/quote]
When he quotes someone else’s work is he saying he believes it? You have ears what have you heard?
It’s called pandering to the majority who, as I have said, are not quite up to the task any longer.
To everyone who thinks that putting money in a mutual fund is all you have to do, is looking at a complete picture: past to present. This is extremely short sided and simple minded.
There have been numerous recessions, wars collapses of segments markets, etc that have occurred in the last 40 years. It’s easy to look back and point out the clear success, but it’s a survivorship bias.
Also, you’re right that it wouldn’t be considered a good investment over the course of 40 years, BUT it is foolish to believe that returns are linear. I highly recommend reading ‘Fooled By Randomness’ by Nasim Nicholas Teleb.
Ironically, in the book i suggested above, Teleb mentions that Buffet was just lucky. That the probability of 1 person being correct throughout their career, is very unlikely, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen; enter Buffet.
We don’t know the result either. If it is 9 billion and 10 million, he did good. If it’s one billion and 100 million, he did ok in at least not squandering it.
No one has said it was linear - it’s based on average returns. And the facts show that has Trump simply enjoyed the average returns, the market would have outperformed Trump’s business judgment.
It’s easy analysis - if you gave your money to Trump and he underperformed the market that badly over that period of time in real estate, would you be crowing about what a great businessman he was? Of course not. That’s ridiculous. If I give my money to a money manager and he can’t beat the market rate of return over that period of time, he’s fired.
Anyone who is telling you different in these forum is beclowning themselves.
