As a general rule, If any of the gang of 8 members hate the pick it’s a good choice. The fact that McCain, Rubio and Graham hate Tillerson means Trump chose well.
Some of the picks are so counter intuitive and seem hostile to their appointed posts, they make me wonder if the directive will be to shrink some of them to tininess and then combine them.
You think there is anyone in “working America” that could fill a role in the Trump administration? No, that’s not what you’re saying. Are you then saying he should pick some bureaucratic shmuck who won’t make anyone in working America jealous?
Honestly, I give the average blue collar worker far more credit. They know that people who have succeeded have done so not by accident but because they are talented.
I don’t know anything about Tillerson. But I do know about the people he passed over and I think there were better picks than Tillerson available. But, let’s wait and see first if he gets confirmed and secondly, if he does what sort of job he does.
Trump doesn’t know policy, so he isn’t picking on policy. He’s selecting on the basis of their commercial successes, and he thinks that instantly translates into success in that policy space. It doesn’t, and won’t.
My sentence was not specific enough. The GS picks represent the antithesis of Working America. Not just blue collar, but white collar also in great numbers.
There is no one and I emphasize no one, with more ability to extract extreme amounts of capital into so few hands (in the free world) than these titans of finance.
They barely function in their role of supplying capital, have driven under most the banks that would lend to the ZebCos into the ground, skim huge profits off the Equities market, create bullshit pyramids like the subprime cdo packages pushed worldwide, and buy politicians and legistlation. They are literally on one side of the scale and the balance of society is on the other.
Successful businessman actually selling something they build and military men that have fought to the top of the pecking order - Im okay with for the most part.
Was it Romney’s romneycare, gun control, amnesty support, gay rights and marriage, tax and spend Liberalism, inability to call out Obama since they held identical positions, cap & trade or something else that attracted you to him?
Or the fact that he hates Trump and America so much, that he concocted that idiotic stunt of trying to lock up the EC vote with the guy from Utah running?
I hold less of an opinion on RINOs than I do straight up Liberals.
Why? Because Libs are at least up front in their stances, rather than dancing around social issues and pandering to Christian bloc vote.
Trump may out to be a skilled charlatan of the highest order also. Some of his statements, Cabinet picks, meetings - under the name of unifying split society, and personality traits are troubling to me.
We will see soon enough if he moves in his campaign promised directions of killing PC,
revitalizing economy (real not the casino equity market), immigration reform, & addressing healthcare. Stopping nation building, healing racial et al divides and reversing debt must occur too, or this nation will collapse.
