What vehicle is the easiest and cheapest for normal maintenance?

I’m talking brakes, hoses, water/fuel pumps, etc. I’m looking to buy something for about 8000 or less that will be reliable but use only to work and back, and be able to put a carseat for my 1 year old for that occasional time i have to use my car or truck to take him anywhere. hope this makes sense.

A Toyota or Nissan are your best bets because they don’t break down as often as many others do.

would i be foolish to buy a 4 runner with about 130k miles? i heard they run forever but what does that mean? 300k? 400k? thanks

They last about 300k where as an american car of the same type would last about 100k
