TRT for Fat Loss: Any Success Stories?

If thyroid hormones are subpar, fat loss will be a challenge. Also protocol decisions can be the different between trimming down or gaining water weight.

This is assuming you built up muscle from resistance training… not really a good answer in my opinion.

I completely recomped on TRT I am 6ft3 and usually look lean around 210-215. On TRT I went up to 235 and my clothing did not feel tight except in my arms and shoulders. My waist stayed the same and I looked lean at this weight. Prior to TRT when I would hit 235-240 I would not fit in anything and felt horrible.

I am on week 7 of a cut and am down to 222 right now and the fat seems to be melting off at a pace I have not seen since my early 20’s. I am seeing veins popping out all over. What is the most amazing part is my strength is not declining on the cut. This has been the easiest cut I have ever done.

What’s your protocol?

This is critical for fat loss and hypertrophy. Of course it follows that proper diet and training are equally critical.

Definitely. It’s easier to say no to that extra beer or drive through meal when you’re seeing weekly changes in the mirror. Training has gotten more intense over the months as well.

I bulked for the first 3 months of trt and had great results. The last 2 weeks I’ve been cutting and I feel like I’ve been hit by a train. Going for 2 lbs a week, so aggressive but not stupid cut.

Went from 210 pre trt to 230 in 12 weeks (10 water weight, 5 fat, 5 muscle). In 2 week cut lost 5 water/glycogen in first week, then 2 lbs second week. Eating 2500 calories a day, 200g protein, 200g carb, 100g fat.

Not sure if trt is telling my body to keep building muscle and I’m burning the candle from both ends. I’m doing 100mg E3D

How is your sleep. Pre trt I could survive on 5-6 hours. Trt my workouts have become much more intense and heavy that if I don’t get 8-9 hours I feel like a train hit me.

Lost five inches from my waist, probably lost 15-20 lbs of fat, gained ~10 lbs of muscle.

Took six months, but nothing really for first four. Didn’t change anything, already eating well and working out with weights.

I get 9 hrs a night most the time and feel like I could nap every day. I’m lifting 5 days a week with volume and intensity pretty high. I’m trying to see if my body adapts or if I have to reduce the workload. My goal is to do a blast after I get down under 205-210 again.

I wouldn’t take fat loss advice from him… just sayin’…

Can we get an update? Did you ever go on TRT? If you couldn’t put on muscle or keep lean muscle because of low t, you would likely notice a big shift. Either way, you’d benefit from it. I think everyone would to be honest. I was 155lbs at ~12% bodyfat, and after 2 years on TRT i’m 185lbs at ~12% bodyfat. You can’t just eat whatever you want and expect to lose weight. I cut out candy, cake, any sweets, pizza except on rare occassion. If the snack/meal isn’t protein dense (ie wasted calories), i don’t eat it. I don’t think it’ll be a magic bullet for you or anyone, but it can help. In my case, my body couldn’t put on muscle. I was doing everything right for 3 years and maybe put 2lbs of muscle on. Once my levels were normalized with TRT i blew up. It was a dramatic change. Now i’m probably gaining at the normal rate like everyone else. Good luck.
