Triple Add Sets

I wanted to get some opinions on this intensity technique I just read about called Triple Add Sets. With this technique you’re suppose to be able to work all three types of muscle fiber within one set. Here’s how it works:
Select a light weight and do 20-30 reps, rest 10 secs and select a heavier weight that only allows you to do 6-8 reps, rest another 10 secs and finally, select a very heavy weight that only allows you do 1-3 reps.

This seems like an interesting idea. I just wonder if it can lead to over training.

  1. Any type of training will lead to overtraining if you overdo it.

  2. Fred Hatfield proposed something similar a number of years back, only using his model, you begin with the higher intensity lift, and progress to the lighter loads…his model makes a lot more sense.

  3. Any of the so-called ‘intensity’ techniques, (although that is a certainly a misnomer,) may or may not work if used periodically. However, basing your training around one or more of these techniques is one of the dumbest things you can do.

Best of luck
