I was lifting heavy when i was in a relationship, more interested in strength than physique. When my ex broke up with me I started doing more volume with less weight, mostly to keep my mind off of her as i wanted to do more and kill time. I exploded with growth. If my calories are high, I bulk up, if my calories are low, i get cut, and i dont bother with the actual load, its still high volume lower weight.

I do increase intensity with slower/faster tempo, supersets, etc. I do around 27-30 sets a workout, 15-18 sets a bodypart. I dont train as heavy anymore (probably like 40% less weight).

I do plan to do some heavy strength/ half of my volume soon to switch things up (I sort of miss it after all these months), so we will see.

It’s interesting to hear from someone who has used that principle efficiently. I guess both ways work well, but the “lift heavy or go home” is predominant through lifters’ minds.
